There’s something really special about seeing a wallpaper collection come to life outside of a screen. This photoshoot for Rocky Mountain Decals was all about capturing the softness, texture, and quiet detail behind some of our best-selling wallpaper designs.
We leaned into a soft, neutral palette with warm creams, delicate florals, subtle stripes, vintage-inspired patterns, and that timeless “old world meets everyday home” feeling.

Styling wallpaper beyond the wall
Instead of simply hanging wallpaper and calling it done, we styled each design with intention. We layered samples, added natural textures like linen, stone, wood, and dried florals, and used small details like ribbon ties and brass clips to make everything feel collected rather than staged.
It’s the kind of styling that feels effortless, even though it is very thought out. And yes, Pinterest was absolutely involved. We’re millennials. Pinterest is not going anywhere.

Why styling matters
Wallpaper is not just about pattern. It is about context.
Seeing a design on a product page is helpful, but seeing it styled with books, greenery, vintage frames, soft textiles, or natural materials helps the whole look come together. It gives you a better sense of how the wallpaper might feel in your own home. You can also use our wallpaper previewer to get a better feel for how a design may look in your own space.
That was the goal of this shoot: to show how versatile these designs can be, how soft the colours really are, and how easily they can layer into a room.

More than just wallpaper
One of our favourite parts of this shoot was playing with different ways to use wallpaper beyond a full wall installation.
Wallpaper can be used as decorative wrapping, a backdrop for shelf styling, a small framed art piece, or a pretty layer in a flat lay. It is also a lovely way to use leftover pieces from a larger project. If you are planning a full wall, our wallpaper calculator can help you figure out how many sheets you need.

Design is in the details
This shoot was a reminder that design is often found in the small things. The way patterns mix. The textures you pair together. The little styling choices that make a space feel warm, personal, and lived in.
That is what we want Rocky Mountain Decals to be part of. Not just wallpaper for a wall, but a starting point for creating a home that feels meaningful to you.
Wallpaper that feels personal
For a long time, wallpaper had a reputation for feeling outdated. Something from the 70s. Something people wanted to remove.
But we have always believed wallpaper can be the thing that makes a room feel special.
At Rocky Mountain Decals, we want every person who visits our shop to find at least one design they connect with. Maybe it reminds them of their childhood. Maybe it feels like grandma’s house. Maybe it brings back memories of a summer lake house, a cozy bedroom, or a space that made them feel safe and happy.
Mostly, we want our wallpaper to make you feel something. Joy, nostalgia, comfort, warmth, or just a little bit of everyday beauty.
If you have ever wondered how to style wallpaper, mix patterns, or use up leftover pieces, this is your sign to play around with it. Some of the best ideas come from simply laying things out and seeing what feels right.
