A simple, charming project using wallpaper you already love
If you’re looking for an easy DIY that adds both function and charm to your space, this wallpaper pin board is a great little project to try. It’s a simple way to show off your favourite wallpaper while creating a practical spot for notes, photos, and everyday inspiration. Best of all, it comes together quickly with minimal supplies.
This project works beautifully in entryways, home offices, kitchens, or kids’ rooms, especially when paired with a vintage frame or decorative pin board like the one shown here.
What You’ll Need
- A pin board or framed cork board
- Your favourite Rocky Mountain Decals wallpaper (We are using our Regal Floral wallpaper)
- Pencil
- Scissors or a craft knife
- Smooth, flat work surface
- Optional: tape or a small amount of adhesive if needed
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Remove the backing
Start by removing the backing from your pin board so you’re left with just the front surface. This makes tracing and cutting easier and helps ensure a clean finish.

2. Trace the shape
Lay your wallpaper face down on a flat surface. Place the pin board on top and carefully trace the outline using a pencil. Take your time here. Following the curves closely will make a big difference in the final look.

3. Cut out the wallpaper
Using scissors or a craft knife, cut along the traced line. Slow, steady cuts work best, especially around rounded or arched edges.
4. Attach the wallpaper
Position the wallpaper on the front of the pin board. If your board already has a fabric surface, it may hold in place without adhesive. If needed, use a small amount of tape or adhesive to keep everything secure.
5. Reassemble the pin board
Place the backing back on, making sure everything lines up properly. Press gently around the edges so the wallpaper sits flat and smooth.

6. Hang and style
Hang your finished pin board and start styling it with notes, photos, to-do lists, or inspiration pieces. It’s functional and decorative, which is our favorite kind of DIY.
